From Ron Knott: " He boltered as you can tell by the picture and was sent to Sigonella to roost. As he passed pri-fly I will never forget that the tail pipe of his airplane was almost closed due to the ramp strike."

From Larie Clark, LSO: "...his first trap in over two weeks as we'd been on gunnery training at Sigonella and before that R&R in some port in the Med. The deck was pitching and heaving quite a bit with several wave offs but all the guys got aboard safely except ***. His parting shot on the accident summary was "I did it and I'm glad".


Photos of PLAT tape, liberated from AAR by former ASO/LSO. Pilot ejected successfully, flew F-8's for several more years, including taking the lead-sled J into combat. And he didn't do this anymore.
