The LACB-29 Committee held its fourth meeting on September 23 and the planning continues. We've made a small change in the schedule, shifting the daytime special event from Friday to Saturday. We're excited about the event and are working on the details.

Just in case you missed it, here's the latest SITREP:

SITREP #2

It's time to make your hotel reservations for LACB-29. The host hotel is the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay and Marina, 1441 Quivira Road, San Diego, California, 92109. To make your reservations online, click LACB-29 Hotel Reservations. If you prefer to make your reservations by phone, call the Hyatt Regency at 619-224-1234 or 1-800-233-1234. Make sure you ask for the F8 Crusader Association discounted room rate of $169.

The deadline for making reservations is April 11, but we urge you to make your hotel reservations early as the rooms always sell out.

The discounted rate will be honored (3) days before and after the contracted dates of May 3-6. This is based upon the hotel's availability, so if you plan on arriving before these dates or staying later, make your reservations early to ensure getting the group discount.

Our special rate includes complimentary overnight self-parking, a waiver of the resort fee and complimentary in-room internet.

If you have any difficulties whatsoever in making your reservations with the hotel and need additional assistance, please contact our own personal F-8 Crusader Meeting Planner, Mary Buonaguidi, Mary.Buonaguidi@ConferenceDirect.com, or by phone: 760-942-7104.

Please remember that reserving your room is step one in your LACB-29 registration process. We will release the LACB-29 registration form by early December via a similar email and on the web site. You will need to download the form, select the events you wish to attend and mail it in along with your payment.

Here is a brief summary of the schedule: Registration begins Wednesday (May 3). The spectacular penthouse ready room opens at 1500. Registraton continues on Thursday (May 4) with the ready room open for gatherings and catching up. Thursday evening is set aside for squadron events or dinner with friends. Friday (May 5) is golf day or for personal tours during the day. The welcome aboard reception is Friday evening at the hotel. Saturday (May 6) is the big day. We will have a special off-site event in the morning through mid-day. (We are still working on those details and will promulgate them soon.) Cocktails begin at the hotel at 6:00 p.m. with the Last Annual Crusader Ball at 7:00 p.m.

It's going to be another great LACB. The penthouse ready room gives phenomenal views of San Diego and the ocean, providing a perfect place to kick back and catch up with friends. As usual, we'll have an open bar and plenty of nibbles. We're putting together a variety of activities to make it a memorable time, yet are also setting aside personal time to allow you to do those things you like to do when you come to San Diego.

So, make those hotel reservations, alert your friends and be on the look out for the LACB-29 registration form in a couple of months.

SITREP #1

LACB-29 is in our gunsights, plans are being made and we wanted to bring you up-to-date. It is 4-6 May 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in San Diego. This is the same venue we had for LACB-28. Once again we have the fantastic penthouse suite overlooking San Diego for our Ready Room!

Mark your calendars, but please do not contact the hotel for reservations just yet. We haven’t finalized the reservation procedures, but should be able to pass all of that along to you within the next couple of weeks.

We are following our tried and tested format. Registration begins on Wednesday and the Ready Room will open that afternoon, normal hours for the duration of the reunion. Registration continues on Thursday with the evening set aside for squadron functions and dinners with close friends. So, start thinking about those squadron affairs you might want to organize.

There will be a major event Friday during the daytime. The committee is still developing the details which will be promulgated as soon as they are finalized. We will have a cocktail social with heavy hors d’oeuvres at the hotel in the early evening.

There will be a golf tournament Saturday morning. There will also be an all-hands meeting of the Association. Otherwise, Saturday is open for whatever attractions you wish to visit. Then, of course, the 29th Last Annual Crusader Ball will be held Saturday evening at the hotel.

You can catch all of the latest details about LACB-29 here on the web site. Make sure you place this page in your browser’s bookmarks so you can easily return.

Your LACB-29 team is excited about putting it all together and we look forward to another great event in San Diego. If you have questions or comments, please email the team at LACB-29@f8crusader.org.
